ARCHIBUS Inc. Announces ARCHIBUS® V.16 for Enhanced Infrastructure/Facilities Management

Greater AutoCAD Interoperability, Task Security, Expanded Web Capabilities Lead List of Look, Feel, Usability Improvements

BOSTON, Massachusetts, June 14, 2006 — ARCHIBUS, Inc., the #1 developer of infrastructure and facilities management software solutions in the world, announces the V.16 release of ARCHIBUS. As the world’s most widely deployed software solution for infrastructure and facilities management, ARCHIBUS is currently used by more than 3,000,000 people to manage over 16 billion square feet of space in 1.4 million buildings.

“ARCHIBUS V.16 represents our continuing commitment to provide the most advanced solutions to support corporate real estate and facilities professionals in their work,” said ARCHIBUS, Inc. President Bruce K. Forbes. “These enhanced applications give ARCHIBUS clients the business analysis and intelligence tools and insight needed for the kind of proactive management that leads to significant bottom-line improvements.  A remarkable Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) experience can be realized by even the most casual of users — when, in just a few minutes, they are able to begin using the new generation of Process Navigators, Executive Dashboards, and Risk Mitigation Scorecards.”

ARCHIBUS V.16 incorporates a long list of enhancements that improve the functionality and usability of the software, including:

Activity-Based Deployment. With activity-based deployment, users can more easily gain clear definition and consensus on the automation priorities of highest value in the organization, and quickly detail responsibilities, identify resources, and set specific timeframes for achieving organizations’ goals. Even a broad range of automation goals can be achieved activity-by-activity, step-by-step, with each new function building on the data, skills, and success of the previous deployment.

New “Learning Path”. ARCHIBUS V.16 includes a role-based Learning Path that is integrated directly into the Help system so users can quickly identify the information that is most relevant to a particular job. This results in a flatter learning curve for new users, greater productivity, and reduced staff training needs. The impact of staff turnover is minimized and organizations can accelerate their Return On Investment.

New “Getting Results” Section. The “Getting Results” section presents ARCHIBUS from the standpoint of the business results to be achieved, providing lists of prerequisites, goals, and organizational titles with a stake in the results. Users are able to quickly move from goals to action plans and the tools needed to achieve those results.

Integrated, Web-Accessible Documentation. All ARCHIBUS documentation is now online, organized in a single table of contents, and searchable from a single dialog, speeding the process of answering questions and accomplishing tasks.

Microsoft SQL Server Express Support. ARCHIBUS V.16 includes support for SQL Server Express, a no-fee database server software that is included with the product and reduces the cost and effort required to get small workgroups up and running on ARCHIBUS.

IWMS Compatibility. New features for interacting with data and drawings increase productivity for CAD specialists by enabling them to more fully leverage the power of both the ARCHIBUS and AutoCAD environments, in tandem.

ARCHIBUS for Windows V.16: Greater AutoCAD® Interoperability

With its wide range of systems interoperability, ARCHIBUS for Windows V.16 lets user data interact more completely with the Overlay for AutoCAD, DWG Editor, and Architectural Desktop. Among the many capabilities users will gain: double-clicking a room in the grid will now find the drawing that contains that room, load the drawing in AutoCAD, and highlight the room.

In addition to the ARCHIBUS Overlay for AutoCAD or Architectural Desktop, Version 16 includes an option for deploying the “ARCHIBUS Editor for AutoCAD” or the “DWG Editor,” for short. The DWG Editor is a version of AutoCAD specifically tailored for facility and infrastructure management with the ARCHIBUS Overlay functionality built in. A new, improved DWG Viewer (for fast, high-fidelity display of drawings) and DWF Publishing feature (for DWF publishing in background mode) round out a long list of other refinements, from better cut-and-paste behavior, to the ability to use the thumb-wheel in the grid.

ARCHIBUS Web Central V.16: Even More User-Friendly

In a continuing effort to advance the functionality in every part of the ARCHIBUS V.16 solution, FM Web Central V.16 now features Dynamic Restriction Highlighting and Dynamic Thematic Highlighting and Legends. The new capabilities will reflect immediate changes in a user’s room/equipment/work order data and deliver dynamic highlighting of such thematic categories as suites-by-lease and rooms-by-department, respectively.
Also added for greater user efficiency is easier selection of items by clicking on them directly -- without having to select a room/group/suite/floor, etc. Clearer, enlarged highlights on blocks for equipment, jacks, and faceplates have also been provided for improved information visibility.
